Jeff opened his first bike shop at age 12: Lightning Wheels, run out of his garage in Westhampton Beach. He fixed a handful of bikes but he was not match for the local bike shop Bike and Kite. It didn't last, but it's where he learned to wrench, and he never stopped.

In 2018, Bike and Kite, a three-generation shop that had kept this town riding for decades, closed its doors. We didn't want to see that gap stay empty, so Jeff opened Westhampton True Value Bike Service to keep local riders on the road and on the trails. His partner, Chris Frankel, brings more than 20 years of experience as a bike shop mechanic, and both of them are lifelong mountain bikers.

We've been busy since day one. So busy that we've never had to advertise, and we're still working hard to keep up. This year we grew into Coastal Cycles, a full bike shop, adding new bikes from Marin and Bianchi for their quality and value, and most recently Yeti Cycles.

Rounding out our full-time team is Shannon, who has been with us since we started Coastal Cycles. An experienced athlete who has competed in many runs and rides, she brings deep experience from a wide range of outdoor sports. As our product specialist, she has decades of experience with all cycling products.

Our mission is simple: bring mountain biking to the East End of Long Island and get more kids and adults on bikes, road or trail. We want everyone in town and the surrounding area to have easy access to great maintenance, which is why we're one of the only service centers on Long Island that works on e-bikes we don't sell, and we build custom e-bikes too.
